By far the most magnificent medieval city in the Adriatic coast, Dubrovnik is the most popular Croatian destination with a good reason. Surrounded by stone walls, marble streets, elegant baroque buildings and lively squares, Dubrovnik has been much of its history a self-governing city-states which is why it offers so many things for you to explore. To learn about its rich history and explore the city at your own pace and interest, consider booking Private Local guide in Dubrovnik to fulfill your experience and enjoy the city to its fullest.
Private Day trip from Split to Dubrovnik will start in the morning meeting your private driver, who is also your tour guide, at your Hotel or any other accommodation. After exchanging few words, you will start your journey and enjoy a scenic ride along the highway (A1) and Dalmatian coastal road. Journey total has 250km, and first 100 kilometers is nice and smooth highway, so you can sleep a little longer. Scenic route starts at the end of highway, with magnificent views on Neretva river valley. It would be interesting to stop there, take few photos and maybe grab some local fruit, honey and juices!
Journey will continue from Neretva valley to Ston with amazing views on Peljesac peninsula and its wine growing hills. There are so many wineries, but before crossing border to Bosnia you can stop at Rizman winery and try delicious wines from Peljesac. If you would like to go to Ston first, prepare your passports, because border control is just around the corner!
Driving 15 kilometers would take around 15 minutes (sometimes longer due to traffic jams) and you will be back to Croatia, see the magnificent views of Ston bay. In Ston you can taste one of the world’s finest oysters that were cultivated there for centuries or have a seafood lunch in restaurant. We recommend usually Konoba Bakus, because all our clients had great experience there. Wine tasting can be provided after Ston, or on your way back from Dubrovnik. Easier and time saving is to do wine tasting after ston and save the rest of the day just for Dubrovnik.
After arriving to Dubrovnik, you can explore the city with your private local guide and enjoy in history tour which would last 1.5 hour, or have extended Game of Thrones / History tour with City Walls which would last 3h. Please not that in case of having extended tour, Dubrovnik city wall fee is 27€ per person. You will visit the most important sights of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, (Stradun, Church of St. Blaise, Sponza Palace, Onofrio’s Fountain and the impressive city walls and some less known hidden gems for a genuine Dubrovnik experience. Based on your interests, our professional guide will give you recommendations on the best places for lunch, additional sightseeing at your leisure or hints on shopping.
